Pot Smokers Light Up Across Canada

1 05 2010

Pot smokers in more than 300 cities across the World took part in the Global Maijuana March 2010 by peacefully demonstrating in favour of the legalization of marijuana today, May 1, 2010. Calgary Worldwide Marijuana March 2010 Poster
Gathering in large fuzzy, happy groups, Pot users/enthusiasts sparked up in unison to show support for the global legalization of marijuana. Cities here in Canada were no exception, with big gatherings in several cities, including my own, Calgary. Heck, in Toronto over 40,000 people showed up in Queen’s Park to take a puff (or two) and possibly make a point at the same time; that’s a thirty percent increase over last years attendance. From what I have read, it sound like this was the biggest rally, world wide this year. Outspoken Pot activist and wanted man in the U.S. of A, Marc Emery got the croud pumped at the Toronto rally, urging the mellow mass of 40,000 by counting down “3…2…1… Smoke ’em if you got ’em!!!” and shouting things like “Toronto is the center of the Universe,”(a sentiment many Torontonians believe, and the the rest of Canada doesn’t). 🙂
The police were present, but the turned a polite and blind eye to all the Pot being puffed and passed around. In fact they were better than restrained: they were polite, friendly and respectful.
